Privacy
Ember stores its session records on your Mac. There’s no Ember account, analytics, or session server.
What stays on your Mac
Ember reads Claude’s local session registrations and transcripts without changing them. Heartbeats, commands, summaries, copy records, diagnostics, and the cost ledger are stored locally in ~/Library/Application Support/Ember/. Summaries and heartbeats can contain sensitive project information.
Preparing a compacted copy writes a new transcript in ~/.claude/projects/. The original transcript and Claude’s registration files stay intact. Ember uses Claude’s own links when you choose to open a session or continue in a copy.
Requests through Claude
Refreshes and summaries run inside your own Claude sessions. They send session context to Anthropic as part of normal Claude model traffic and use your plan’s usage or API credits. Anthropic’s terms and privacy practices apply to those requests. Ember does not receive or upload your session content to an Ember backend.
App updates and this website
Sparkle checks ember.eighteenhq.com/updates/appcast.xml for app updates and downloads update archives from this site. These requests don’t include your transcripts or summaries. Like any web request, they expose ordinary connection information, such as your IP address, to the hosting provider, Cloudflare.
This website uses no analytics, external fonts, cookies, or tracking scripts.
Companion configuration
Installing or updating the companion changes Claude’s plugin configuration. Ember shows the commands and asks for your approval before running them.
